Wear your magic! Let’s talk about black star diopside, a magical, inky stone that displays a silvery cross dancing across its surface under direct light.
This black star diopside double skull ring is one of my favs.
What is black star diopside?
Black star diopside is a calcium magnesium silicate with a Mohs hardness of 5.5 – 6.
Diopside itself comes in a range of colors, from white and light green, to darker green, brown, or greenish black.
It often displays cat’s eyes or 4-rayed stars, like the stone in my ring.
A powerhouse Earth element stone
Black star diopside is an excellent energetic grounding stone, signaling base chakra and hara energy deep in your belly.
It can also literally help you work with what’s beneath your feet, which makes it an excellent ally for dowsing, working with ley lines, and any kind of geomancy.
This stone is a strong physical healer, bringing you into resonance with the Earth element, grounding and dissolving chaotic energetic patterns and helping restore balance and natural rhythms.
Star stones are extra magical
This stone also usually displays a natural, 4-ray star or cross, depending on how you want to look at it.
In general, when stars appear in stones, they boost the properties of that particular stone.
Star stones are great for gazing, flipping on your alpha brainwaves and helping you plug into your psychic abilities.
This stone in particular helps me make a strong connection with my ancestral spirit guides.
How to buy black star diopside
Buyer beware! This stone is often mislabeled as black star sapphire—a more precious stone that’s a variety of corundum (the same stone as ruby, but black).
Sapphires usually scan more brown or dark purple to the eye, and are considerably more expensive.
Diopside will be a very dense black with a bright silver sheen in the light.
They’re also pretty affordable if you look for them set in sterling silver, not gold.
