13-Month Old Ways Mentorship

Coming January 2027: Cultivate Ancestral skills

Let me initiate you into some of my favorite folk ways. This is Grandmother Medicine. Nourishing food. Plant medicine. Infusions, decoctions, and tinctures. Basic fermentation. Sprouting and microgreens. Sourdough. Salves, ointments, and poultices. Energy work, ritual, and enchantment. Skills you can use to enrich your life and care for yourself, your family, and your tribe. My program is structured, and will give you a good foundation, direction for learning, and a focused path forward to incorporate the old ways into your life and make them your own.

First Enrollment January 2027

Oral teachings. Hands on. Invaluable skills.

Sometimes the simplest techniques are the most powerful. My The Old Ways Mentorship is 13-month long, live online program.

We’ll meet twice a month, and take a deep dive into a traditional skill. You’ll learn history, theory, and practical application. You’ll get your hands dirty making nourishing foods, ferments, and plant medicines and creating personalized rituals designed to help you connect with your ancestors and empower your life. And I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way.

This isn’t a certified school where you’ll get a fancy degree. You’ll walk away with practical magic and tools that you can use in your everyday life (and share with the next generation). This is oral tradition, my direct experience, and the teachings of my many teachers, personally passed down from me to you.

Enrollment opens January 2027. If you have questions about the program, or want to see if we’re a good fit, just email me at jessie@sanctuaryeverlasting.com.

Month 1: The Alchemy of a Magical Life

Why live a mundane life when you can live a magical one? Our first month together focuses on an intro to your mentorship, setting your goals, and the alchemy of everyday magic. From transforming daily tasks into meaningful rituals and creating healing spaces to creating nourishing foods and working with Spirit, these simple practices will help you shift your mindset, create actionable plans to achieve your goals, and help you manifest your desires. You’ll start your own Old Ways Materia, which is one part recipe book, one part journal, and one part book of spells.

Month 2: Sprouting + Microgreens

In this first unit, we’ll approach plant spirit work on the most primal level. You’ll learn how to grow sprouts and microgreens at home, on your kitchen countertop. We’ll choose seeds, talk about germination, what it takes to coax them into sprouts — and then nourish them into tender, nutritious microgreens. You’ll learn about the energetic and nutritional transformation that happens as seeds begin to release their magic. We’ll connect with the plant spirits and structure and enchant the water we’re using to grow. The practice of growing your own food is simple, practical, and a powerful act of self sufficiency. (Plus, you’ll save a bunch of money on salad and get a constant supply of beautiful, organic superfood greens at home.)

Month 3: Infusions + Decoctions

Sometimes a cup of tea is just a cup of tea. And sometimes, it’s a powerful conduit for magic, intuition, connection, and healing. You’ll learn which herbs are best to brew quickly like traditional tea, and which ones are better simmered low and slow for a while. (And why!) We’ll take a deep dive into 12 herbs you should never be without. I’ll share some of my favorite formulas, plus ideas for how to stock your pantry so you always have a remedy you need on hand.

Month 4: Nourishing
Foods + Soups

Cooking is all about nourishing yourself and those you love. It can be mundane, or it can be a ritual that you use to imbue your food with intention, energy, and your own practical magic. We’ll talk about the meaning of the elements (earth, air, fire, water, aether) as they relate to cooking. I’ll share heirloom recipes that you can customize and make your own, as well as techniques that you can apply to any cuisine. We’ll also explore practical hearth magic.

Month 5: Tinctures

Tinctures are a great way to work with plant allies. They’re potent. Portable. And eminently practical. They keep for a long time, and can be an ideal way to preserve a fresh or dried harvest. I’ll teach you how to make simple folk tinctures. (This isn’t clinical herbalism, we’ll talk about the difference.) We’ll discuss the properties of 13 key plants, review resources, and get you started on your own home apothecary.

Month 6:
Oxymels + Vinegars

There’s a whole world of plant medicine beyond alcohol tinctures. This month, we’ll work with vinegar and honey to create useful, delicious preparations you’ll actually want to keep in your kitchen. You’ll learn how to make herbal vinegars, and traditional oxymels, how and why different plants extract into vinegar, and how to begin creating combinations of your own. We’ll talk about the history and folklore, work with the energetic qualities of sour and sweet, and make remedies that blur the line between food and medicine.

Month 7: Fermentation

Lacto-fermented veggies are so simple to make at home, and are loaded with beneficial, gut-friendly probiotics. You’ll learn the basics of fermentation, including equipment, how to choose the best salt, and typical brine ratios. (If you know me, you know I ran an award-winning food blog for nearly 15 years.) You’ll learn how to make saurkraut, pickles, and basic concepts that make it easy to improvise your own recipes.

Month 8:
Honey Ferments

In this unit, we’ll be working extensively with Bee Spirit Medicine as we take a deep dive into the magic of honey as a physical, energetic, and spiritual healer. We’ll get into equipment and the science of honey fermentation. You’ll learn how to make basic garlic fermented honey — and then switch it up to include ingredients like fresh ginger, turmeric root, hot peppers, and even onion.

Month 9: Sourdough

No two sourdough starters are the same. They take on their own character and energy based on the flour, water, and the wild yeast in your house. You’ll learn how to make a sourdough starter, how to care for it and feed it to keep it going, and get recipes and basic techniques for bread, muffins, waffles, and more. Once you get the hang of it (and you will, I promise!), I’d be willing to bet that you never go back to storebought bread.

Month 10:
Salves + Ointments

Now we take our plant medicine out of the bottle and put it on the body. You’ll learn how to make infused herbal oils and turn them into salves, balms, and ointments you can customize for yourself and your household. We’ll cover oils, waxes, herbs, ratios, shelf life, texture, and the little adjustments that make the difference between something that technically works and something you genuinely love using. We’ll also explore the older idea of anointing, which is the act of applying oils and herbs to the body with intention, attention, and care.

Month 11:
Poultices +
Skin Care

Some of the oldest home remedies are also the simplest. A poultice may be nothing more than a plant, a little water, and knowing what to do with them. This month, we’ll explore poultices, compresses, washes, soaks, and other ways of working with herbs externally. Then we’ll bring those principles into simple, natural skin care using ingredients you can recognize and preparations you can make yourself. The goal isn’t to build a complicated beauty cabinet. It’s to become comfortable reaching for what you already have and knowing how to work with it.

Month 12: Essential Oils + Flower Essences

Plants can be worked with in extraordinarily concentrated ways — and extraordinarily subtle ones. This month we’ll explore both ends of that spectrum. You’ll learn the foundations of working thoughtfully with essential oils, including dilution, blending, practical uses, energetic qualities, and basic safety. Then we’ll move into flower essences, which are preparations that work not through the physical constituents of a plant, but through relationship, pattern, and energetic resonance. We’ll talk about how these traditions differ, how I use each of them, and how to begin developing your own intuitive relationship with both.

Month 13:
Energy Work, Enchantment + Integration

Everything we’ll do during our mentorship contains an energetic component. During our final month, we bring it all together.

We’ll go deeper into working intentionally with energy: sensing it, moving it, clearing it, charging objects and preparations, creating ritual, working with symbols and correspondences, and bringing enchantment into the things you make. We’ll talk about plant spirit, household magic, ancestor work, intuition, and the difference between simply following a recipe and entering into relationship with your materials.

Most importantly, we’ll look back over the thirteen months and begin weaving everything you’ve learned into a practice that is entirely your own. The point was never to make you practice the Old Ways exactly as I do. It’s to teach you enough so you can find your own way. I’ll help you create a clear path forward once your mentorship ends.

This is Mentorship, Not Just a Class

We’ll meet twice each month for thirteen months.

Our first gathering of the month will be our deep dive. That means teaching, history, theory, demonstration, folklore, energetic principles, and everything you need to begin working with that month’s practice.

In our second gathering of each month, we’ll come back together after you’ve had time to experiment. Bring your questions, your successes, the batch that did something weird, the sourdough starter that refuses to cooperate, the tincture you’re unsure about, and the intuitive experience you can’t quite explain. We’ll troubleshoot, compare notes, deepen the work, and talk about where you might take it next.

You don’t have to get everything right the first time. In fact, I hope you don’t.

Learning these skills by actually doing them — observing, adjusting, trying again, and developing your own instincts — is part of the Old Ways, too.

Your Old Ways Materia

At the beginning of our mentorship, you’ll start your Old Ways Materia. It’s a handwritten book, so find a journal you like. Think of it as one part recipe book, one part reference manual, one part journal, and one part book of spells.

Over thirteen months, you’ll fill it with the things you make, the plants you meet, recipes and formulas you want to keep, notes about what worked and what didn’t, energetic correspondences, rituals, observations, questions, family knowledge, and your own evolving ways of doing things.

By the end of our time together, you won’t simply have completed thirteen units. You’ll have begun creating your own living book of household wisdom.

And unlike a course binder you shove onto a shelf and never look at again, this one can keep growing for years.

What You’ll Walk Away With

By the end of our thirteen months together, you’ll know how to grow food on your kitchen counter, brew and extract herbs in several different ways, prepare nourishing foods, ferment vegetables and honey, maintain a sourdough culture, create basic topical preparations, work more thoughtfully with essential oils and flower essences, and incorporate energy and ritual into ordinary life.

But the bigger thing I want you to leave with is confidence.

Confidence to look at a plant and know how you might begin working with it. To open your pantry instead of immediately buying a product. To modify a recipe instead of believing there’s only one correct way.

My goal is to teach you how to listen to your senses and intuition while still understanding the practical principles underneath what you’re doing.

And confidence that these skills belong in your hands.

What’s Included

13 months of mentorship

26 live, one-hour online gatherings — two each month, with time for teaching, demonstration, discussion, questions, and troubleshooting.

A complete materials list for each unit, sent ahead of time so you can gather what you need without scrambling.

Monthly recipes, formulas, resources, and reference materials to add to your Old Ways Materia.

Hands-on projects every month, because there’s only so much you can learn about sourdough, tinctures, fermentation, and salves by listening to someone talk about them.

Recordings of our gatherings, so you can revisit the material or catch up when life inevitably gets in the way.

And most importantly, access to me as your mentor throughout the process — not simply a library of videos and a password to a course portal.
